Swansea's A-level students have outperformed the Wales average for top grades, with 34.2% achieving A*-A compared to 29.6% across Wales. The overall pass rate for Swansea at grades A* to E is 97.4%, slightly below the Welsh average of 97.7%.
Strong Performance Across the City
Eight in ten grades were C or better for students in Swansea. More than 600 young people from Swansea's schools with sixth forms received their A-level results today and will now go on to university, further education, training, or employment.
Bishop Gore School saw 100% of Year 13 pupils achieve at least two A*-E A-level or BTEC grades. In addition, 83% achieved at least three A*-C grades, while 32% achieved at least three A*-A grades.
Subject Highlights
Some of the highlights include: more than 96% of pupils achieved A*-C grades and 39% achieved A*-A in English literature; 92% achieved A*-C and 68% achieved A*-A in mathematics; 90% achieved A*-C and 50% achieved A*-A in physics; and 100% achieved A*-C and 73.2% achieved A*-A in the Welsh Baccalaureate Skills Challenge Certificate.
Morriston Comprehensive School reported that 23% of all grades awarded were A*-A or equivalent, and 48% of all results were A*-B or equivalent. Furthermore, 62% of pupils achieved at least three A*-C grades or equivalent qualifications, and 91% achieved at least two A*-E grades or equivalent, ensuring the vast majority of learners secured qualifications supporting their progression.

Swansea Council's cabinet member for Education and Learning, Robert Smith, said: "All our A-Level students deserve huge congratulations for their achievements this year. Their success reflects their hard work, determination and commitment throughout their studies. I would also like to thank our schools, teachers, support staff and families for the encouragement and guidance they have provided. I wish all our young people every success for the future with whatever they are doing next."
Swansea results quoted refer only to WJEC subjects used by Swansea schools and do not include results for other awarding bodies or Gower College Swansea.
