Primary School Plunged Into Lockdown After Disturbing Incident
A Catholic primary school in Solihull was forced to enact its emergency safety protocols after a man reportedly chanting about demons was seen nearby. The incident occurred at Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Primary School on Stratford Road in Shirley.
Police Response and School's Action
The alarm was raised at around 3pm on Tuesday, November 11. Upon receiving reports of a man acting suspiciously, West Midlands Police officers rushed to the scene. The school confirmed that the intruder was located in a church car park and, crucially, did not manage to gain access to the school grounds themselves.
In an abundance of caution, the school followed its strict safety procedures. The building was placed into a lockdown that lasted for approximately 45 minutes, ensuring the safety of all children and staff inside, including those in the attached nursery.
Area Secured and Children Collected Safely
Police officers conducted a thorough search of the vicinity to ensure the situation was fully resolved. Once they confirmed the area was safe, the school gates were reopened. This allowed anxious parents to arrive and collect their children without further incident. The swift actions of both the school and the police ensured that the event concluded without any physical harm to pupils or staff.
