Police Investigate Death of Brighton College Teenager

Sussex Police have launched an investigation into the death of 14-year-old Naishel Kelly, a pupil at Brighton College, who died after experiencing breathing problems. The teenager, from Hove, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital on Tuesday but passed away.

Police have stated that the death is being treated as unexplained but is not considered suspicious. Officers are conducting inquiries on behalf of the coroner, with further forensic tests underway to determine the cause of death. Results are not expected until later this month.

Brighton College has expressed its condolences to Naishel's family and refuted claims that she died from an allergic reaction to nuts after eating a biscuit. A college spokeswoman said post-mortem tests showed no signs of anaphylaxis, and police confirmed that eating a biscuit was not a factor in her death.
