Wirral Met College's £4m campus expansion at Twelve Quays in Birkenhead has reached the halfway stage, with the new Maths and English Centre now handed over by contractor Krol Corlett.
New Centre Ready for September
Located off Canning Street, the new block is ready for the college's September intake, when students will enrol across its five main campuses.
Krol Corlett's managing director Dan Tebay, who achieved his joinery qualifications from Wirral Met, said: “Aside from delivering on time and to budget, one of the most pleasing aspects of this job is how many of the college’s construction students we’ve been able to involve in the project.”
Next Phase: NEXUS Engineering Hub
The project's focus will now turn to completing the new NEXUS Engineering Hub, with construction set to finish in October.
Krol Corlett's contract manager Phil Evans added: "We’ll be delivering the new workshop whilst the college functions at full capacity, which requires very careful planning. Many of our sites are ‘live’ operational workplaces with high footfall, such as hospitals, universities and transport hubs. Not only do our site managers know how to plan around this, but so do our trades and their logistical support."
