Eden Girls' Leadership Academy in Cheetham Hill, Manchester, has been rated 'exceptional' in all areas by Ofsted following an inspection on May 12 this year. The school, which has 636 pupils, received top marks for achievement, attendance and behaviour, curriculum and learning, inclusion, leadership and governance, and personal development and wellbeing.

Inspectors Praise 'Oasis of Calm'

The Ofsted report described the school as 'an oasis of calm routine that helps pupils to feel safe.' It highlighted that 'care, compassion and consistency define a pupil's journey through Eden Girls' Leadership Academy' and that 'pupils, regardless of any barriers to learning or wellbeing, flourish.' Inspectors noted that incidents of bullying are 'extremely rare' and resolved swiftly when they occur.

High Aspirations and Attendance

According to the report, 'pupils are keen to attend school each day because they do not want to miss out on the rich learning opportunities available to them.' The school's inclusive environment and rigorous pastoral systems ensure that every pupil is known and supported. Pupils with special educational needs and disabilities have their needs 'expertly met' and thrive due to high-quality support.

Broad Horizons Beyond Academics

The report also commended the school for broadening pupils' horizons through activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, the STAR diploma, and extra-curricular options like calligraphy, Taekwondo, and netball. Inspectors stated that 'pupils' charitable works extend beyond the school gates' and that 'the school is the beating heart of the community.'
