Pupils at Duncanrig Secondary School in East Kilbride are celebrating after achieving outstanding exam results, with some securing five As at Higher level and seven As at National 5.
Top Achievers Honored
The school has highlighted a group of high achievers, including Ella Smithson, Emma Williams, and Sophie Lloyd, who are returning for their sixth year and hope to go on to university.
Ella expressed her delight, saying: “I’m delighted with the results and would like to go on and study history and politics at university, with the aim of eventually going into teaching.”
Headteacher Praises Students
Headteacher Annette Alexander praised the students' dedication, stating: “We are exceptionally proud of all of our young people, their hard work and commitment towards and during the exams.”
She highlighted the school's Rights-Respecting Gold-Accredited status, adding: “We have a strong commitment to children’s rights and embedding a rights-respecting ethos across all aspects of school life.”
Record Results Across South Lanarkshire
Alexander noted that the 2026 S4 results are the best in recent history, and the S5 results show the highest attainment in a four-year trend.
Lyndsay McRoberts, Executive Director of Education Resources, congratulated the pupils and encouraged any learner with questions to speak to their school or use support from Qualifications Scotland and Skills Development Scotland.
Across South Lanarkshire, more than half of S4 learners achieved five or more National 5 qualifications, and over 60% of S5 learners achieved one or more Higher qualifications. Record numbers of young people were presented for these qualifications across all schools.
