Manor Park Nursery in Coatbridge has received a positive report from Education Scotland inspectors. The nursery was found to have several key strengths in its work with youngsters.
Key strengths identified
The "well-respected manager and staff" form "positive, nurturing and inclusive relationships with children and their families", resulting in children who are "happy, kind and friendly". Staff develop effective processes to support children's transitions throughout their nursery journey, which supports their wellbeing and helps them settle quickly and confidently.
Children also benefit from a well-considered outdoor environment, where they enjoy exploring, investigating and being active.
Areas for improvement
The following areas for improvement were identified and discussed with the manager and a representative from North Lanarkshire Council:
- Staff should continue to develop the indoor environment to ensure that children can be curious and creative in all areas of the playroom.
- Staff should continue to develop approaches for responsive and intentional planning. This should support them to provide progressive experiences across all curriculum areas.
A final statement from Education Scotland read: "We are confident that the setting has the capacity to continue to improve and so we will make no more visits in connection with this inspection."
North Lanarkshire Council will inform parents/carers about the setting’s progress as part of its arrangements for reporting on the quality of its settings.
