A community in Fife has been left in shock after a 15-year-old boy died following a medical emergency on his school bus. The incident occurred on Monday 24 November 2025 at approximately 1.45pm.

Emergency Response at the Scene

Emergency services were called to the A92 Halbeath roundabout in Dunfermline after reports that a teenage boy had become unwell on board the bus. Despite the rapid response from paramedics and police, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

Police Scotland has confirmed that the death is currently being treated as unexplained. A spokesperson stated that enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

The boy was a pupil at Beath High School in Dunfermline. The school's headteacher, Stephen Ross, expressed the profound grief felt by the entire school community.

He said the school is devastated by the news and that their primary focus is on supporting the boy's family and loved ones. The school has immediately mobilised its support systems, offering counselling and a safe space for students and staff affected by the loss.

Mr Ross emphasised that the school is providing space, time, and help to all those who need it as they come to terms with this devastating news.
