The incident occurred during a girls' volleyball match between North Atlanta High School and Riverwood International Charter School. Photographs circulated on social media depict a group of students, believed to be from Riverwood, with their faces painted dark brown or black.
District Launches Immediate Probe
In response to the outcry, the Fulton County School District confirmed it has launched a full investigation into the matter. A district spokesperson stated that such behaviour is "not reflective of our values" and emphasised a commitment to a respectful and inclusive environment for all students.
"We are aware of the situation and are looking into it thoroughly," the spokesperson said. "The district does not condone actions that are offensive or demeaning to any individual or group."
