The AK Bell Library in Perth will close to the public and staff for three weeks from Monday, August 2, to September 14, for essential and intrusive maintenance to remove the building's original boilers. Due to the nature of the works, the library will be inaccessible throughout the closure.
North Inch Community Library in Perth will be available for browsing and borrowing books, as well as for accessing People's Network PCs and Princh print services.
Services and Alternatives
Other services hosted at the AK Bell Library, such as Lend and Mend and Local and Family History, will be suspended or moved to other Culture Perth and Kinross libraries. Full details will be shared on the Culture Perth and Kinross website. People who visit for specific services will be notified with further arrangements.
Perth and Kinross Council Archive Service and Learning Curve customers will also be affected. Further information about these services will be announced in due course.
Out and About Sessions
During the closure, AK Bell Out and About will offer Bookbug and Storytime sessions at Perth Museum and Perth Art Gallery. Library staff will also pop up in Perth city centre to inform residents and workers about local library services and how to join.
For library users who have the AK Bell Library as their main library and may be unable to access another, loan periods will be extended and the maximum number of items that can be borrowed will be increased.
