Parents and pupils at St Margaret's Church of England Academy in Aigburth have been told that headteacher Adam Robinson is leaving the school and will not return this half term. The news comes two months after teachers at the school went on strike.
Letter announces headteacher's departure
A letter sent to parents and carers explained that Mr Robinson is moving on from his position. The letter, issued by Heather Duggan, chief executive of the All Saints Multi-Academy Trust, stated: "Mr Robinson is stepping away from his position as Headteacher and won't be returning to school this half term."
The letter added: "We would like to thank Mr Robinson for his service to the academy and All Saints Multi Academy Trust during his six years with us, and we wish him every success."
Headteacher's message to the school community
Speaking on behalf of the headteacher, the letter said: "Mr Robinson would like to wish everyone within the St. Margaret's community well moving forward and to thank students, families and colleagues for their support during his time as Headteacher."
The trust boss said that Executive Headteacher Mr Chris Wilson, who is already working closely with the school, will provide "strategic and operational leadership" at St Margaret's moving forward, supported by the senior leadership team.
Departure follows September strikes
The sudden departure comes two months after teachers at St Margaret's went on strike over concerns relating to "excessive workloads, working conditions and adverse management practices." Strike action took place across a number of days in September, with teachers pictured on picket lines outside the school.
