An official opening ceremony has marked the completion of Struthers Primary School's new £3.2m extension in Troon.
The project began in July 2025 and was finished in time for the start of the 2026/2027 school session.
New facilities and classrooms
The extension comprises four new classrooms, a library, a nurture room, a multi-purpose open area, a courtyard and a covered outdoor teaching area. New toilets have also been added as part of the additional accommodation.
The upper school playground has been extended and will include new facilities to encourage active travel and play.
Supporting pupil growth
The new extension is intended to support the school's increased roll of pupils, which has been growing steadily over the last 10 years.
Councillor William Grant, Policy Lead for Education and Lifelong Learning, said: “The new extension at Struthers Primary School is a very impressive facility and I’m delighted that the staff and pupils of the school can now reap the benefits of these incredible new spaces.
“I have no doubt that the addition of these facilities will have a positive impact on pupils' learning and will foster a nurturing environment for many generations to come.”
