A 16-year-old beauty queen from Brazil has been found dead in a house under construction after a night out with friends. Gabrielly Moreira, a high school student and part-time model, was crowned beauty queen of the Cavalgada dos Vaqueiros annual festival in Pedra Branca this year.
According to reports, Gabrielly went to a bar with a group of friends on September 18. The group, consisting of another girl and two boys, later entered a restricted property. One of the boys claimed she fell ill and collapsed on the floor. Her friends alerted emergency services and her father, who arrived at the scene around 12:30 am.
Her father, Valb rio, noticed blood on her chin and bruises on her right arm. He also found two vodka bottles in the house, one empty and the other partially full. He said the group gave conflicting accounts of what happened. Paramedics attempted to revive Gabrielly, but she later died.
Valb rio described the circumstances as "very mysterious." According to the girl who was with her, Gabrielly entered a dark room with one of the boys and came out screaming about 25 minutes later. She was already losing consciousness when the others entered. The boy she was with said she suddenly felt ill and collapsed.
Authorities are awaiting autopsy results to determine the exact cause of death. Gabrielly's family and friends are planning a parade in her honour. A spokesperson for her school said: "Her presence was always synonymous with joy, charisma, and dedication, becoming an example for young people and the entire community."
