A 17-year-old boy has appeared in court on drugs charges following an incident in which six 13-year-old children were taken to hospital in Ayrshire. The children were reported to be unwell at around 18:25 on Saturday and were taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock, where they were kept overnight for observation.
Police have stated that the children, who knew each other, may have taken a form of the drug MDMA. The 17-year-old suspect appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court and was released on bail pending further investigation.
The incident has raised concerns about drug use among young people in the area. Authorities are continuing their inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the case.
