Wright's Wife Seeks Return of Trophies After He Sold Them

Peter Wright's wife Joanne has taken to social media to demand the return of his trophies after the darts legend sold them without her knowledge. The two-time world champion's family described themselves as "devastated" by the sale.

Wright's Trophies Listed for Sale

Wright, known as "Snakebite," is a darts icon with two World Championship titles, a World Matchplay, a UK Open, and two World Cups among his achievements. However, he has struggled with form recently, dropping to world No. 34. His replica World Championship and World Matchplay trophies were listed for sale by Dart Gear Competitions this week, along with a signed photograph from his 2021 Matchplay victory.

Wife's Response on Social Media

Upon discovering the listing, Joanne Wright posted on X: "No they aren't for sale. They weren't approved to be sold. They belong to our children." She added: "It was never our intention for these sentimental items to be sold off in this manner, Peter gave them up on a bad day really. They are keepsakes for our children. So we are happy to pay back what was paid to use to receive these items back for our family."

She further explained: "The world's trophy was a wedding present to our daughter Naomi. The large frames I bought them." She said she had left a message for the seller to arrange a return.

Seller Agrees to Reverse Transaction

Dart Gear Competitions responded via a Facebook video on Tuesday evening, stating they were willing to reverse the transaction and personally deliver the trophies back. Their statement read: "This is a response video about the Peter Wright trophies that we purchased over the weekend. It all started on Thursday, Peter gave me a call asking if I wanted to buy some darts which I did. Over the weekend there were various messages from Peter asking if I'd like to purchase his trophies. On Sunday I agreed a price for the Matchplay and World Championship trophy and some shirts."

They continued: "Monday I went round as arranged and picked up the trophies. Since we've had the trophies in our house all we've seen is various backlash on social media from Peter's wife tweets stating these were promised to their children. Peter we've tried to call you, these were bought in good faith. So Peter all you have to do is give me a call. We've put the trophies into storage, you're more than welcome to have them back. All we want to do is have the reverse transaction done."

Wright's Recent Performance

Wright produced a commendable run at the 2025 World Championship, knocking out defending champion Luke Humphries before losing to Stephen Bunting in the quarter-finals. His most recent major triumph was the German Darts Championship in 2024, where he defeated world No. 1 Luke Littler.
