A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Just after 7:30 am today (Saturday), we received a report of a collision on the A68 near West Woodburn in Northumberland. It was reported that five vehicles had been involved in a collision. Emergency services attended, with only minor injuries reported."

"A woman – aged in her 30s – was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit. She remains in police custody at this time."

Road Closure and Reopening

The road was closed from the B6320 (Old Town Farm) to the Bellingham turn-off (West Woodburn) and remained shut for several hours while vehicles were recovered. It reopened to traffic shortly after 11 am.
