Woman 'performs sex act' on American Airlines flight
Woman accused of sex act on American Airlines flight

A woman has been accused of removing her trousers and masturbating on a busy passenger flight while making "inappropriate sounds". Katy Inzer, 46, allegedly carried out the act shortly after take-off on an American Airlines flight from Baltimore to Miami on September 11.

Incident reported mid-flight

According to The Smoking Gun, police at Miami International Airport were dispatched to meet the aircraft when it arrived at around 11pm following reports of a female passenger causing a disturbance. Around 20 minutes into the flight, a 61-year-old male passenger reportedly approached flight attendant Gabriel Barrero and raised concerns about Inzer, who was sitting in seat 9D.

A police report stated Inzer had "removed her pants and began to actively masturbate while making inappropriate sounds". Mr Barrero approached Inzer and "instructed her to put her pants back on", according to the report obtained by The Smoking Gun. She complied "without further incident" before eventually falling asleep for the remainder of the flight.

Passenger statement and police interview

The male passenger, named by The Smoking Gun as Alexander Pichardo, later provided police with a written statement corroborating the flight attendant's account of what allegedly happened. The report stated she had "a strong odor of alcohol beverage and she had blood shot eyes".

Police interviewed Inzer after the aircraft landed in Miami. Inzer told officers that the flight's departure from Baltimore had been delayed by two hours "and as a result, she had several drinks before boarding the flight". Asked about the alleged incident on board, "Ms. Inzer stated that she does not remember what occurred during flight because she fell asleep."

FBI involvement

The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office determined that because the alleged incident happened while the aircraft was in flight, it was a matter for the FBI and forwarded its report to a bureau agent. The Smoking Gun, which obtained a copy of the incident report through an open records request, said the status of the FBI inquiry was unclear and that no charges appeared to have been filed against Inzer at the time of its report. Inzer declined to comment when contacted by The Smoking Gun.
