Wavertree Road crash: Junction blocked after road rage incident

A major junction in Liverpool is blocked following a crash this evening that police suspect was a road rage incident. Merseyside Police were called to the junction of Wavertree Road and Tunnel Road at 5.38pm on Sunday, October 2.

Suspected road rage crash

A force incident manager said the crash involved two cars in what is a suspected "road rage" incident. The people involved in the crash had no visible injuries but were said to be "shaken".

The road is currently blocked as officers work to clear the scene. Pictures seen by the ECHO show a major response from the emergency services, with several police cars, fire engines and ambulances at the junction.

Damage and traffic impact

The front bumper of one of the cars involved appears to be significantly damaged. The junction connects Edge Hill and Wavertree to Toxteth and the city centre to the south and Kensington and Everton to the north.

Google’s live traffic data is reporting slow traffic at the junction. Emergency services remain at the scene as the road is cleared.
