Two small ships have sunk after a fire ripped through both of them in the Old Port of Marseille, leaving 14 people injured. The blaze broke out near City Hall at around 10:30 AM, quickly engulfing both vessels before they sank.

Firefighters Respond Quickly

Approximately 150 firefighters were called to the scene and have since described the incident as "under control." The Mayor of Marseille confirmed that 14 people were treated by emergency services, though earlier reports had indicated nine injured, six of whom were on board the ships, according to Huffington Post France.

Witnesses Describe Chaos

In a video shared online, flames and thick black smoke can be seen billowing from the top of one ship as the fire spreads to another. On the nearby gangway, several people try to flee while screaming towards the docks as witnesses call for emergency services.

Port Operations Disrupted

The port remained closed to ferries and shuttles as of 12 PM. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation.
