Two Injured in Crash Near Rochdale Beauty Spot

Two people were injured after a driver ploughed into a wall and smashed into a parked van in a dramatic crash near a Rochdale beauty spot. Emergency services responded to Halifax Road in Littleborough at around 10:15pm on July 4, following a collision outside The Moorcock pub, near Blackstone Edge.

Details of the Crash

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) reported that a car had come off Halifax Road moments before the collision. The two occupants exited the vehicle before emergency services arrived. Police, paramedics, and firefighters all attended the scene.

According to Greater Manchester Police (GMP), both occupants sustained injuries, with one man requiring hospital treatment. No arrests have been made. A GMP spokesperson stated: “At around 10:16pm on July 4, officers responded to reports of a collision involving several vehicles on Halifax Road, Littleborough. One vehicle collided with parked vehicles. The occupants exited the vehicle prior to emergency services arriving. One man was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries, and those of the other occupants, are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing at this time.”

Emergency Response

A GMFRS spokesperson added: “At around 10:15pm last night (Saturday, July 4), firefighters were called to reports of a crash on Halifax Road in Littleborough. Two fire engines from Littleborough and Rochdale fire stations, along with the technical rescue unit from Ashton fire station quickly arrived at the scene, which involved a collision between an empty parked car and a car that had come off the road and into a wall. The two occupants of the vehicle self-extricated before the arrival of the fire service and were assessed at the scene by colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS), before being conveyed to hospital. Crews worked to make the scene safe before handing over to Greater Manchester Police around half an hour later.”
