A woman was assaulted with a knife and a man was hit with a plank of wood in a Cardiff suburb on Sunday, June 21, 2026. Both victims have been taken to hospital for treatment. South Wales Police have arrested a 37-year-old man from the Splott area of the city on suspicion of affray, possession of an offensive weapon, and drink driving.
Incident Details
Police were called at 12:15pm to Templeton Avenue in Llanishen following reports of a man chasing a woman through residential streets. Officers arrived promptly and found both a man and a woman had been assaulted. The woman is believed to have been attacked with a knife, while the man was struck with a plank of wood.
A police cordon was established at Llangefni Place in Llanishen as officers conducted their investigations. South Wales Police Detective Inspector Sarah Lee stated that the parties involved are believed to be known to each other.

Detective Inspector Lee said: "We know that incidents of this nature can be upsetting for the local community, and we want to reassure residents that we acted quickly to bring the situation under control and support those involved. Our officers are carrying out thorough enquiries to establish the full circumstances, and a man remains in custody. We believe this was an isolated incident between three people known to one another, and there is no wider threat."
