Thai Teen's Family Speaks After Australian Charged with Murder

The family of 17-year-old Tunchanok Donhomla has spoken of their fear and grief after an Australian man was charged with her murder in Thailand. The teenager's father, Thongchai Donhomla, told Reuters that his daughter grew up without a mother and was self-reliant.

Father's Statement

'Whenever she wanted anything, she would find a way herself, and she always helped me too,' Thongchai Donhomla said. The family expressed shock and sorrow over the tragic incident.

Charges Laid

Police have laid three charges against Australian man Simon Peter Carman, 46: murder, concealing a corpse in an attempt to hide the cause of death, and abduction of a minor over 15 but not yet 18 for indecent purposes. The charges follow the discovery of the teenager's body in a suitcase.
