Scottish man Danny Vettrino, 37, from Dysart in Fife, was found shot dead on the luxury Caribbean island of Canouan in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. He was gunned down in a parking lot in the Gym Hill area around 11:30pm on Wednesday, June 24, after returning from a day out. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force has launched an investigation and will conduct a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. A police spokesperson said: "At approximately 11.30pm, police responded to a report of shots being fired at Gym Hill, Canouan."
Scot Missing and Feared Dead in Ukraine
Stefan Sivers, from Aberdeen, is missing and feared dead in Ukraine while fighting against Russian forces. Social media posts from pro-Russian accounts claim he died in Kopanky, near Borova, Kharkov region, on May 23. He reportedly arrived in Ukraine last year and was wounded in a previous incident in December. A photo shows Sivers in combat gear holding a machine gun with a red cross, captioned as having been 'eliminated.' The Foreign Office confirmed Sivers is missing and is in contact with Ukrainian authorities.
Da Vinci Rapist Faces Jail for New Sex Attacks
Robert Greens, 48, known as the Da Vinci rapist, has been convicted of sex attacks on a woman and faces another lengthy jail term. He was previously jailed for 10 years for raping a 19-year-old Dutch student at Rosslyn Chapel in Midlothian in May 2005. During his trial at the High Court in Glasgow, prosecutors led evidence of that crime to corroborate the new allegations. Greens sobbed as he testified for the first time about the 2005 attack, claiming he "deserved" his punishment but denied forcing the other woman into sex. The 2005 victim did not return to Scotland to testify.
Teen Sexually Assaulted in Coatbridge
A 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in a lane near Auldhame Street and Blair Road in Coatbridge around 1am on Sunday, June 28. The attacker is described as white with dark hair, wearing a padded jacket and dark trousers. Police have launched an investigation and a police presence remains in the area.
