London Mayor Sadiq Khan has dismissed Donald Trump's latest attack, saying the US president has a 'man crush' on him and is living 'rent-free' in his head. Trump called Khan 'grossly incompetent, and a bad person' during a press conference at the Oval Office.
Trump's Latest Rant
Speaking to reporters, Trump said: 'I don't want to cause any problems, but your Mayor of London is grossly incompetent.' Khan responded by telling Metro: 'Another day, another example of President Trump's obsession with me. He's clearly got a man crush on me. I am living rent-free inside his head, and you can see why.'
The comments came shortly after London won the Lee Kuan Yew Prize, a prestigious urban planning award, in Singapore.
Long-Standing Feud
The spat between the two dates back to 2015, when Khan, then a Labour MP, condemned Trump's proposal to ban Muslims from entering the US. After Khan's election as mayor in 2016, he called Trump's views on Islam 'ignorant', prompting Trump to challenge him to an IQ test.
The row escalated following the 2017 London Bridge terror attack, when Trump claimed Khan said there was 'no reason to be alarmed'. In fact, Khan had urged the public not to be alarmed by an increased police presence after the attack.
London's First Heat Plan
Khan made his comments while launching London's first-ever heat plan in Islington. The plan aims to protect Londoners from rising temperatures, prioritising vulnerable people in high-risk areas.
He said: 'Rising temperatures are no longer a future threat – they are becoming a growing reality for Londoners. It is affecting our communities, from homes and high streets to schools, hospitals and care services. That is why I am proud to unveil Heat Ready London, London's first ever heat plan. This is a new vision that will help tackle the huge obstacles we face with rising temperatures.'
Khan emphasised that no single organisation can address the challenge alone, calling on partners to use the framework for collective action to protect lives and strengthen the city's resilience.
