A priest has been comforting the families of three young girls killed in a stabbing attack at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport, as the community mourns the tragic loss.
The attack took place on Monday at a Hart Space studio on Hart Street, where children were attending a summer holiday workshop. Nine other children were injured, along with two adults, who remain in hospital.
Community in mourning
Father John Hagan, parish priest at St Marie's Church in Southport, has been spending time with the families of the victims, offering support and prayers. He described the atmosphere in the town as one of deep sorrow and disbelief.
Floral tributes have been left outside the studio, and a book of condolence has been opened at the church for people to sign.
Suspect arrested
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. He remains in custody, and police have confirmed that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
The motive for the attack is not yet known, and investigations are ongoing. The community has been urged to avoid speculation and allow the authorities to carry out their work.
