A tribute has been issued to a devoted mum found dead in horrifying circumstances. Samantha Natalie Phythian, known to those closest to her as Sammi, was found in a burning van in Prestatyn last week.
A post-mortem examination revealed that Sammi, from Rhyl, was pregnant at the time she died. Thomas Matthew Hammond Bell, 38, of Wellington Road, Rhyl, has been charged with murder in connection with the death and will stand trial next year. A second man was also arrested in connection with Sammi's death on Friday.
Family's GoFundMe appeal
Friends, with the permission of Sammi's family, have started a GoFundMe appeal to give her the "send-off she deserves", reports North Wales Live. The appeal was launched by Maryjane Haggerty.
She wrote: "We are heartbroken to be writing these words following the tragic loss of our beautiful Samantha Natalie Phythian, known to those closest to her as Sammi, whose life was taken in the most horrific way possible."
"Sammi was an outgoing, lively, and full-of-life personality who brought her own special light into the lives of those around her. She was someone who could make an impression, bring energy into a room, and leave memories that will stay with the people who knew and loved her forever."
Family's tribute
Ms Haggerty said the family are faced with the financial costs of arranging Sammi's funeral and giving her the dignified send-off she deserves. "We are asking for your kindness, love, and support to help ease some of this burden during an incredibly difficult time," she wrote.
Sammi's family have paid their own tribute. They said: "Her tragic and untimely death has left her family and friends devastated, struggling to come to terms with the loss of someone who meant so much to so many. No family should ever have to endure the pain of losing a loved one in such circumstances."
Police appeal
Senior investigating officer detective chief inspector Zoie Dunkerley said: "My thoughts are with Sammi's family and friends. I would also urge the community to be careful of commenting anything which would add to the family's distress or interfere with the ongoing active legal proceedings."
