Northumbria Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to trace after a young woman reported being raped in her own home. The victim, in her late teens, had spent the evening in Newcastle city centre before allegedly being raped at her home address by a man she met earlier that night.
Incident and Investigation
The alleged offence occurred on Thursday, February 5. Police launched an investigation immediately and have since conducted numerous enquiries, including a review of CCTV footage. They have now identified a man they believe may hold key information about the incident.
Detectives are urging the public to help identify the male captured on CCTV. Anyone who recognises him or has any information is asked to contact Northumbria Police via social media direct message, through the police website, or by calling 101, quoting reference 26000293252.
Appeal for Information
A police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for the public's help to identify this man as part of our ongoing investigation. If you recognise him or have any information, please get in touch with us."
The woman is being supported by specially trained officers. Police have not disclosed further details about the suspect or the exact location of the incident to protect the victim's identity.
