One hospitalised after Heaton two-vehicle crash

A two-vehicle collision in Heaton has resulted in one person being taken to hospital. Northumbria Police and the North East Ambulance Service responded to the incident this morning, where one other person received treatment at the scene.

Collision on Etherstone Avenue roundabout

Just after 9am, on the roundabout of Etherstone Avenue and Craster Terrace, just off Chillingham Road, two cars collided, prompting the emergency response. The road was blocked southbound for a short period but was soon reopened, with the vehicles having been recovered.

Emergency services respond

While the incident was ongoing, a Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly after 9am, we received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Etherstone Avenue, near the junction with Chillingham Road in Heaton. Emergency services are currently in attendance."

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "We received a call at 9.11am on Monday 5 October to reports of a road traffic incident on the roundabout of Etherstone Avenue and Craster Terrace in Heaton, Newcastle. We dispatched an ambulance crew to the scene and treated and discharged one patient on-scene before transporting another to the RVI for further treatment."
