Officers from the Toledo Police Department responded to reports of gunfire around 5:37 p.m. local time. According to authorities, two individuals began shooting at each other, striking multiple bystanders. Among the victims, two remain in critical condition, while the other 10 are in stable condition. The victims range in age from 16 to 61.

Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz confirmed that all victims are expected to survive. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine expressed his concern, stating, "Summer festivals should be safe spaces for families to spend time together without fear of violence." He and his wife, Fran, are praying for those affected and expressed confidence that law enforcement will apprehend the suspects.
