Minor injuries in motorbike and bicycle collision at Tyneside roundabout

Northumbria Police has confirmed that a collision between a motorbike and a bicycle at a busy roundabout on Sunday caused only minor injuries to those involved. The force, alongside the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS), was called to the A189 near Gosforth Park at around 2.45pm on Sunday.

Emergency Response and Hospital Treatment

NEAS deployed a crew of paramedics in an ambulance and a clinical team leader to the scene. They treated one of those involved upon arrival, before a second individual was transported to Cramlington Hospital for further treatment. A traffic camera image from the scene showed three police vehicles blocking one of the roundabout's exits, with an ambulance positioned slightly further away.

Official Statement from Ambulance Service

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to a road traffic incident on the A189 near Killingworth, Newcastle at 14:46 on Sunday 4 October."

"We dispatched one ambulance crew and one clinical team leader to the incident. One patient was treated on scene and one patient was taken to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital (NSEC) for further treatment."

The roundabout connects the A189, Sandy Lane, and Killingworth Way in North Tyneside. Police have not released further details about the conditions of those involved.
