Monster Jailed for Desecrating Dead Body on Underground Train
A 44-year-old man has been sentenced to five years in prison after he raped and robbed the corpse of a man who died on a subway carriage. Felix Rojas was found guilty of the heinous assault on Jorge Gonzalez, 37, who lost consciousness and died while riding the R train in April 2025.
Gonzalez's body remained on the subway car for three hours before Rojas boarded the same train near Whitehall Street station. Prosecutors said Rojas, once he noticed the man was dead, measured his waist against Gonzalez's mouth before repeatedly thrusting his hips back and forth. The court heard Rojas pulled down the dead man's pants, raped him, and then searched through his pockets. He then pulled up the dead man's pants and sat on a bench for a few stops to avoid detection.
Three weeks after the horrific incident, Rojas turned himself in, accompanied by his son. He was identified through CCTV footage. During sentencing, Rojas refused to comment. He accepted a plea deal that includes 15 years of supervised release after his prison term.
Gonzalez came to the United States nearly 20 years ago, working various jobs to support his family back home. His ex-wife, Teresa, 38, described him as a devoted father and family man. She said, 'He wasn't just a random person; he was a father, a family man who cared about his family in Mexico.' She added that he worked in construction, kitchens, as a waiter, and a busboy—anything to get ahead.
