A man at a cinema grew so frustrated with two women talking and using their phones during a film that he took petty revenge by throwing half-eaten gummy worms at them. The incident occurred during a screening of Inside Out 2, where the man was seated directly behind the disruptive women, one of whom was accompanied by a young girl aged around seven or eight.
In a post on Reddit's Petty Revenge subreddit, the man explained that throughout the movie, the women kept talking and using their phones, with one woman using hers on full brightness. He described their behavior as 'incredibly disruptive.'
Gummy Worm Revenge
The man, who was snacking on a packet of gummy worms, decided to take action. He bit off half of a worm and threw it at the woman using her phone. 'I didn't miss,' he wrote. When she turned around, he pretended to be absorbed in the film. When she continued using her phone, he threw another half-eaten gummy worm, which made her angry. She turned and told him to 'stop it,' but he played dumb, staring at the screen.
The woman complained to the young girl, who insisted the man was not the culprit. According to the man, the girl said, 'It definitely wasn't him.' The trio then looked around the cinema for the perpetrator but found no one else.
Successful Outcome
After the second throw, the woman dimmed her phone and eventually stopped using it several minutes later. They also stopped talking for the rest of the movie. The woman left for a few minutes, presumably to report him to staff, but nothing came of it. The man advised others to throw popcorn or candy at disruptive moviegoers, as 'they won't know who did it.'
Cinema etiquette dictates that talking and phone use are unacceptable during screenings, as they can distract other patrons who have paid to enjoy the film in peace.
