According to Northumbria Police, the incident occurred around 6:05 pm when a group comprising two men and a woman became involved in a verbal altercation with another man who was not known to them. The dispute escalated, and one of the men allegedly struck the victim with a glass bottle, causing non-life-threatening injuries including cuts to his arm, face, and head.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged. The suspects fled the scene before police arrived.
