A 50-year-old man has died at a beach in Wales on the hottest day of the year, despite efforts from emergency services. The incident occurred at Aberavon Beach in South Wales on Wednesday afternoon, June 24, after the man entered the sea and required medical assistance.
Emergency Response
HM Coastguard initiated CPR at the scene before paramedics and the Wales Air Ambulance arrived. South Wales Police were called at around 4.25pm, and the man, from Cilfrew, Neath Port Talbot, was pronounced dead at 4.50pm. A police spokesperson confirmed officers attended following reports of a man needing help after entering the water.
Investigation Ongoing
The death is not being treated as suspicious. The man's next of kin have been informed. Aberavon Beach is a popular spot in Port Talbot, and the incident occurred during a heatwave that saw record temperatures across the UK.
