A 20-year-old man has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder following a fatal stabbing in Southall that claimed the life of a 26-year-old.
Incident Details
Police were summoned shortly before 1am last Wednesday after reports of a stabbing on North Road. Emergency responders discovered two injured men at the scene. Despite paramedics' efforts, Gurbhej Singh was declared deceased at the location. His family is receiving support from specialist officers.
The second victim, a man in his 30s, was transported to hospital and has since been released. Authorities have now arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of murdering Mr. Singh, and he remains in police custody.
Investigation Update
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, leading the investigation, stated: “Officers have conducted extensive inquiries since Gurbhej’s death last week, leading to the arrest of a suspect on suspicion of murder. I understand the local concern this tragic event has caused and thank the community for their patience during our scene investigations. I also appreciate those who provided CCTV and other information aiding our reconstruction of events on the night of Gurbhej’s death. My thoughts remain with his family and loved ones.”
In total, seven men ranging from their early 20s to late 30s were initially arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. Six have been released without further action, while a seventh remains on police bail as investigations continue.
