A 68-year-old woman who was seriously injured in a collision with a DPD delivery van in Macclesfield has died. Linda Richards was taken to Salford Royal Hospital by air ambulance following the incident on Coare Street.
Collision on Coare Street
Police and paramedics were called to Coare Street, near the junction with Westminster Road, at around 8.37am on Tuesday 8 September. At least two ambulances and police vehicles attended the scene.
Officers found that a DPD delivery van had been involved in a collision with a pedestrian. The 68-year-old local woman sustained serious injuries and was taken to Salford Royal Hospital by air ambulance.
Family tribute
Sadly, despite the best efforts of medical staff and emergency services, Linda Richards died as a result of her injuries on Thursday 24 September.
Following her death, Linda’s family said: “We are saddened by the loss of Linda and know that she will be remembered by those whose lives she touched. As a family, we ask for privacy and understanding at this difficult time.”
Investigation ongoing
Enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing. The driver of the van, a 24-year-old man from Shelton, remains on bail while the investigation continues.
