A section of the M62 has been closed this morning after a serious crash involving multiple vehicles. Emergency services have rushed to the scene of the collision, which has shut the eastbound carriageway from junction 22 to junction 23. Five people have been injured, with a car overturning in the incident.
Three-mile queues and casualties
There are huge traffic queues stretching back three miles. West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Reports of several vehicles involved in a road traffic collision on the motorway, with 1 car on its roof. On arrival crews dealt with casualties on scene while awaiting ambulance arrival, although all were out of the vehicle. A total of 9 casualties were involved, with 5 requiring medical attention from YAS."
The crash has caused significant disruption for motorists travelling eastbound near Huddersfield this morning, with emergency services remaining at the scene.
