A passenger was arrested after allegedly attempting to interfere with an aircraft door during a transatlantic flight, prompting fellow travellers and cabin crew to restrain him before the plane landed safely in Germany.
Incident aboard Lufthansa flight
The incident occurred aboard a Lufthansa service from Bogotá to Frankfurt, where the 33-year-old man is said to have left his seat and begun shaking an emergency exit door.
After reportedly ignoring repeated instructions from crew members to stop, the passenger was physically removed from the door as the situation escalated, according to the Daily Star.
Restraint and arrest
Two passengers assisted cabin crew in restraining the man on board the Boeing 787. The aircraft continued to Frankfurt as scheduled, with police waiting to arrest him on arrival, reports Bild.
Following the aircraft's arrival in Frankfurt, the man was taken into custody. He faces detention on suspicion of endangering air traffic.
A police spokesman stated: "Due to his condition, the man was taken to a nearby psychiatric hospital."
