A major road in Liverpool has been closed tonight (Wednesday, June 17) following a crash involving a police car and a Ford Fiesta. The incident occurred on Mather Avenue, near Allerton Road, at approximately 7:30pm.

Photographs from the scene show a Merseyside Police Matrix car on its side on the grass verge between the carriageways. The police vehicle appears to have collided with a Ford Fiesta, which is not believed to be a police vehicle.
