Katie Price made a desperate call to the police after her husband Lee Andrews told her via a FaceTime call that he was being held hostage on Wednesday. The former model spoke about her fears for Lee tonight, revealing she was left terrified and forced to contact authorities after he was allegedly kidnapped.
Background of the Incident
Price's relationship with Lee has come under scrutiny, with many questioning Andrews' motives. Earlier this week, Lee was due to fly to the United Kingdom to see Katie and meet those closest to her. They were also scheduled to give their first televised interview on ITV's Good Morning Britain. However, despite Lee sending both Katie and ITV a video to confirm he was at the airport, he failed to arrive.
Discrepancies in Travel Plans
Lee claimed he was flying from Muscat International, but the background of his video showed he was at Terminal Two of Dubai International. A spokesperson for the Foreign Office confirmed they were assisting a British male citizen who had been detained, but this was denied by Katie and Lee. He later said he was back at the airport, preparing to fly to the UK. But days after his expected arrival, Katie claimed he was kidnapped in Dubai.
The Kidnapping Claim
In a video shared on her YouTube page, Katie said she last spoke to Lee on Wednesday night. During this call, he was supposedly in a van, with his hands tied, and told his wife that people were coming for him. Terrified, Katie contacted police forces in the United Arab Emirates, where Lee lives. After spending hours trying to reach her husband without success, she called the police.
"Then we got in contact with the police out in Dubai and I've got a head of CID out there, so it's really worrying because me and Lee are in constant, constant contact all the time," she said on her YouTube channel. She added: "It's worrying that his location has gone off. So then we contact the police, the embassy, so has his family. And so I've had the head of CID in Dubai trying to track Lee. So far, I got a message this morning, so now it's three days, saying that no one can find anywhere in the country where Lee has been detained. They just can't find it anywhere. We're now wondering, as far-fetched as it is, if, well, he's definitely a missing person now. I don't know if he's been kidnapped. I don't know what's going on. No one can find him in any prison, police station, anywhere in Dubai, the police can't find any record of him."
Katie's Next Steps
Katie explained that she was not going to publicly address the situation, but speculation that her husband had been arrested continued, which she denies. The former model said police in the UAE would not go through Lee's phone. On Sunday, it will be four days since she last heard from Lee, and she will consider filing a missing person report. "I've been told he hasn't been arrested," she said. Katie added that the police were assisting her enquiries, and Lee was a missing person. "It's worrying that the last call I had with him, he had ties around his hands and a hood," she said, adding that Lee was last seen in a van with mesh windows. "I'm feeling really deflated, it's the unknown, at the end of the day, it's my husband," she said, before questioning whether she should fly to Dubai, despite professionals handling the situation. The Mirror has approached the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for comment.
