Andrea Shaw, 23, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her 18-month-old twin children, who were found dead in a shared bed in Payette, Idaho, on May 1, 2025. The charges were filed on June 29, 2026, following a lengthy police investigation.
Mother Appeared on Anti-Vaccine Podcast Days After Deaths
Just days after the twins died, Shaw and her husband appeared on a podcast produced by Children’s Health Defense, an anti-vaccine organization. On the podcast, Shaw claimed the children had become sick after receiving three vaccinations. She stated, "I feel that I wish I was anti-vaccine now," when asked about being "so pro-vaccines" and feeling "lied to."
Arrest and Legal Proceedings
Shaw was arrested without incident in Boise, Idaho, on June 29. She had recently given birth to another baby on June 25. It is not yet confirmed whether she has entered a plea. Her attorney, Joe Filicetti, told KTVB that he believes the deaths were vaccine-related, saying, "They were looking at it as a vaccine death, and that’s still what I believe it will be." When asked for reasons, Filicetti said, "I’m not a medical expert, but the medical experts I have go through a series of looking at when they had different complications."
Police Investigation and Statements
At the time of the deaths, police treated the case as a homicide investigation. An officer stated, "It’s extremely unusual for two twin infants to be found deceased and be believed to have passed at the same time. So, there’s a lot of unanswered questions that we have right now. We are very hopeful that the autopsies will answer a lot of those questions." In a statement on June 30, Payette Police said, "This arrest is the result of a lengthy and thorough investigation conducted by the Payette Police Department, with invaluable assistance from numerous partner agencies." They added that they will have no further comment as the case is pending in court.
Charges and Custody
Shaw is currently held at the Ada County Jail pending extradition to Payette County, where she will be arraigned on two counts of First Degree Murder.
