Girl, 7, Scalp Ripped Off in Dog Attack, Begins Recovery

A 7-year-old girl named Patricia is recovering at home after a horrific dog attack in Corning, California, on June 27, 2026, in which six dogs ripped off her scalp and inflicted numerous wounds on her body. According to the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office, the attack occurred around 12:30 p.m. in the area of Barham Avenue and Bosque Avenue.

Emergency Surgery and Hospitalization

Patricia suffered significant injuries to her scalp and legs. She was initially taken to a local hospital and then airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center, where she underwent emergency surgery. Her grandmother, Monica Edmiston, shared that the family faced enormous challenges during this time.

Edmiston set up a GoFundMe page to cover medical costs. In the fundraiser description, she wrote: "The dogs ripped her scalp off and left her with numerous wounds all over her body." She added that Patricia's father and brothers slept in a car to stay close to her in the hospital.

Investigation and Seizure of Dogs

The Tehama County Sheriff’s Office said deputies interviewed witnesses and processed the scene. Six dogs believed to be involved were seized as evidence and placed in an animal shelter. The investigation is ongoing, with more information to be released when available.
