A 12-year-old girl has tragically died in hospital after a pupil allegedly opened fire at a school in Thailand, bringing the death toll to eight.

Incident details

Emergency services raced to Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Nonthaburi province, north-west of Bangkok, at around 10am local time (4am BST) on Friday to reports of gunfire.

The authorities have now confirmed the girl's death today. Her death follows five school staff members, the accused shooter, and his two grandparents.

Casualties and condition

A further 14 people remain in hospital, with seven still in critical condition. Most of the injured are between 12 and 14 years old.
