Funerals for Two Teens Killed in Newport Hit-and-Run

Funeral dates have been set to celebrate the lives of two teenagers who were killed after being struck by a vehicle while riding a motorbike in Newport.

The incident occurred on Aberthaw Road in Alway, Newport, in the early hours of Thursday, May 7. Police believe the pair were hit by a BMW, which then left the scene before officers arrived.

Tributes have been paid to Ta-Shay Canoville, 16, and Jaydon Bowyer, 19, who were both pronounced dead at the scene. The family of Mr Canoville described him as a much-loved son and brother whose "life touched so many hearts", while Mr Bowyer's family said he was "polite, respectful, and full of cheeky charm".

Charges and Court Appearances

Two men have been charged with murder in connection with the deaths. Terell Case, 18, of Sandpiper Way, Duffryn, Newport, and Joshua Williams, 34, of no fixed abode, have been remanded in custody until their next court appearance on June 22.

Two women, aged 24 and 40, from Newport, who had been arrested on suspicion of murder, have since been released without charge.

Funeral Arrangements for Jaydon Bowyer

The funeral of Mr Bowyer will be held on Tuesday, June 16 at 1pm at St John's Church in Maindee, followed by interment at Christchurch Cemetery. A reception will be held at Rodney Parade after the service. The family has requested that attendees wear royal blue in memory of the 19-year-old. Donations for the Wales Air Ambulance may be given at the service.

Funeral Arrangements for Ta-Shay Canoville

The funeral of Mr Canoville will be held on Friday, June 26. A procession will set off from Hendre Farm at 12pm, arriving at St John's Church for the service at 1pm. Attendees have been asked to wear Trailberg tracksuits and black trousers with a white shirt and a baby blue tie, or black with a baby blue hair bow.
