Four teenagers have been arrested in connection with a deliberate fire at Rheola House, a grade II-listed 10-bedroom manor house in the Neath Valley, South Wales Police has confirmed.
Emergency services were called to the property, situated between Glynneath and Resolven in the Upper Neath Valley, at around 4.50pm on Tuesday, August 18. The building was described as being "well alight," and fire crews remained at the scene on Tuesday evening due to the unsafe structure of the property.
Arrests and Suspicions
A statement from South Wales Police on Wednesday morning said: "Four teenagers have been arrested in connection with a deliberate fire set at a grade II-listed building in the Neath Valley yesterday."
A 17-year-old boy from Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, a 19-year-old man from Gendros, Swansea, and an 18-year-old man from Waunarlwydd, Swansea, have all been arrested on suspicion of arson and are currently in police custody.
Additional Charges
An 18-year-old man from Cadoxton, Neath Port Talbot, has been arrested on suspicion of arson as well as possession of a knife blade in a public place. The incident prompted a widescale emergency services response.
