Five people have been injured following a serious crash on the M62 this morning (Friday). The collision involved multiple vehicles, with one car reported to be on its roof.
Emergency response and road closure
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the motorway near Huddersfield after the incident, where several casualties required medical assistance. The eastbound carriageway was shut between junctions 22 and 23 following the collision.
Reopening and residual delays
All lanes have since reopened, with National Highways confirming: "All lanes have now reopened. All vehicles involved have been recovered and debris has been cleared. There are residual delays of 40 mins between J21 and J22." Long traffic queues were seen on CCTV cameras after the carriageway reopened.
Separate M6 incident
Meanwhile, the M6 is experiencing long delays near Manchester after a crash involving multiple lorries on the southbound carriageway. According to Inrix: "Two lanes closed and slow traffic due to accident, multiple lorries involved on M6 Southbound from J19 A556 (Knutsford) to J18 A54 Middlewich Road (Middlewich / Holmes Chapel). Lanes one and two (of four) are closed."
