The first image has been released of 16-year-old Nadia Mucha, who died days after being found seriously injured on a road in Wakefield.

Nadia was discovered lying in the carriageway on Rooks Nest Road at about 8.33pm on September 29 and was taken to hospital, where she died four days later, according to West Yorkshire Police.

Arrest and bail

A 25-year-old man was arrested on Monday on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following enquiries by the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team. He has since been released on bail pending further investigation, Yorkshire Live writes.

Detectives continue to appeal for information as they seek to establish the full circumstances surrounding Nadia's death.

Police appeal

Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Elly Buchanan, of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: "We are continuing to support Nadia's family through this horrific time and are working at pace to find them the answers they deserve."

"Our investigation is still ongoing and we urge anyone with any information to come forward and speak with us so that we can bring justice for Nadia's family."

Police previously stated that Nadia was discovered near a bus stop on Rooks Nest Road, having sustained serious head and chest injuries. Detectives indicated their belief that she was the victim of a fail-to-stop road traffic collision.
