An elderly woman was rescued by firefighters after a car ploughed into a wall in south Manchester. Emergency services were called to Corkland Road, in Chorlton, at around 9.05am on Wednesday, September 30.
Police, firefighters and paramedics attended the scene, near to Wilbraham Road. Two people were checked over by paramedics, including the woman who was released from the vehicle by firefighters, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said.
Vehicle severely damaged
Images from the scene showed a black Ford Puma severely damaged following the crash. Bricks were also seen strewn on the ground after the collision. The car was later removed from the street by a recovery vehicle.
No injuries were reported following the crash, Greater Manchester Police said.
Fire service statement
A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 9.06am on Wednesday, September 30, two fire engines from Moss Side and Withington, as well as the enhanced rescue unit from Ashton-under-Lyne attended a road traffic collision on Corkland Road, Manchester.
“The incident involved one vehicle, and one casualty was extricated from the vehicle by the fire service. Two casualties were left in the care of North West Ambulance Service. Crews were on scene for approximately 45 minutes.”
