Emmerdale's Joe Tate escalates his vendetta next week as he pursues retribution for Dawn Taylor's devastating death. Upcoming instalments of the ITV soap will witness Joe (Ned Porteous) joining forces with conniving Sadie King (Patsy Kensit) to bring down the Miligans in what promises to be dramatic scenes.
Lured by the substantial sums Joe is prepared to invest in ruining lives, Sadie agrees to execute a devious scheme designed to destroy Caleb (William Ash) and Ruby (Beth Cordingly).
Background of the Feud
As fans will know, the pair attempted to dissuade Dawn (Olivia Bromley) from marrying Joe on her wedding day, orchestrating her unsuccessful getaway with Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle). Expectant bride Dawn subsequently died following the delivery of her premature baby son, in the aftermath of Jimmy King's (Nick Miles) collision with the wedding marquee.
Joe subsequently buried Ruby alive on the day of Dawn's funeral, before Caleb and Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) rescued her. Joe has since turned his back on his infant son, and his campaign of destruction shows no signs of ending.
Sadie's Plan Unfolds
Next week, Joe schemes to exact revenge on Caleb and Ruby yet again, and with Graham unavailable, he recruits Sadie's assistance, who devises a plan to seduce Caleb. Long before Caleb and Ruby settled in the village, the childhood sweethearts wed in 1996, and they have two children together.
Despite Caleb's dalliance with Tracy Robinson (Amy Walsh) and Ruby's indiscretion with brother-in-law Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), the pair has weathered numerous storms. Will Sadie succeed in tearing Caleb and Ruby apart?
Sadie has been developing a closer bond with Ruby, and next week she will prompt her to confide in her and divulge secrets. Sadie spins another tale of woe to Ruby, but Cain becomes wary about Sadie's decision to remain in the village.
Warnings and Producer's Insight
Cain cautions his brother Caleb that Sadie will destroy his life, but he remains confident he's too clever for her. However, as she accelerates her scheme, will Caleb discover what a calculated manipulator Sadie truly is?
Discussing Joe and Sadie's latest scheme, Emmerdale's producer Sophie Roper remarked: "Sadie King is a force to be reckoned with, but Caleb and Ruby are one of Emmerdale's most powerful couples – they have been through so much together and have only got stronger.
"Joe recruiting Sadie does, however, create a dangerous dynamic, and viewers will hopefully be shouting at their screens to warn Caleb of the dangers that lie ahead."
Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX.
