Driver and dog die in A470 crash as both cars burst into flames

A driver and their dog have died following a collision on the A470 in Powys, Wales, in which an Audi A5 struck a parked car and both vehicles burst into flames. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and the dog, which was travelling in the back seat, also died. The driver's next of kin have been informed.

Crash details

The incident occurred at around 7.30pm on October 3 on the A470 between Llyswen and Llansteffan. An Audi A5 was involved in a collision with a parked Peugeot 2008, and both vehicles caught fire following the crash, Dyfed-Powys Police said. The Peugeot was unoccupied.

The road was closed to allow for a collision investigation and reopened at around 5pm on Sunday, October 4.

Witness appeal

Police are appealing for witnesses and any dashcam footage that could assist with the investigation. A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "Police received a report of a single-vehicle collision involving an Audi A5 that was on fire and a parked Peugeot 2008 that also caught fire.

"Sadly, the driver of the Audi A5 was pronounced deceased at the scene, along with a dog present in the backseat. Their next of kin have been informed. The Peugeot was unoccupied. The road was closed for collision investigation to take place and reopened at around 5pm on Sunday, October 4."
